My Dilemma - registered a new domain name

I have a long term presence and rank very high around #1, #2 #3 on google.

But i have registered a new name and want to somehow transition to this, but not sure how to go about it because of the Google rank thing.

The reason I changed my name, youre probably wondering? Is my original name is too narrow a focus, the new name will attract wider market.

I was thinking I could create a link page from new name (domain) to old domain website, and have both logos on their (with formally old name for example). Problem with this is the url will be old name

Any ideas for this type of situation?

Learn how to do a 301 redirect. Read older threads on how to transition from one domain to another smoothly - but prepare ahead of time.

Yeah, use a mass 301 redirect (i.e. page from one domain to the same page on the other domain). It might not 100% effective in terms of retaining your ranking but it should be pretty close.

Would you mind owning a supermarket, and still keep your old local deli?

Unless there's a real need, it's not always necessary to get rid of old real estate. Keep it maintained on low profile. It might be helpful.

If you decide to redirect - there's plenty of 301 posts out here - follow with care.
