Looking for recommendations for a service provider

Hi - I have a directory of professionals and want those professionals to receive calls direct from a 'call this professional' button in my directory.

Is my only option to offer a call back service? 'Enter your number and someone will call you back'

OR

Is there a cool way that I haven't though of (Twilio anybody?) that can route a call from my directory to the office number of the professionals listed in my directory?

there is a tel: URI scheme for telephone numbers, which i have seen work well on mobile sites.
obviously this is going to be client-dependent, so if you're browsing on a computer that isn't connected to telephony through a voice modem or can route VOIP service through to the public network, then you basically have a useless link.

you also have to deal with the various issues regarding local, 7- vs 10-digit local, long-distance and international calling.
