The term "cross domain" is sometimes used in environments where websites use scripts which are able to access data or perform actions on other domains. Cross domain scripting is one of the methods used by hackers to add malware payloads to genuine sites. Browsers have internal logic which should prevent cross domain scripting and you should therefore in normal website setups try to avoid it.
