I have a high authority static site that ranks really well in google. I want to add a blog to this site in a SUBFOLDER, (domain.com/blog) with the main motive of piggybacking on this sites existing authority, and using subfolder structure in my experience works well for this purpose. (especially as opposed to subdomains blog.domain.com or a completely separate new domain)

But, the niche of the existing site and the new blog are not very closely related, one is beauty and the other would be weddings.

I would like to hear some expert opinions on whether this is a good idea, or should I just create a completely new site?

Any drawbacks to using the subfolder for the new blog when the topics are not closely related?

Thanks all!

Beauty and weddings are closely related subjects IMO. Having gone through the wedding process myself, I know how many money and time women want to spend to be the most beautiful angle in the world on that single day :) If you write the content to be related, I see no problem with these two subjects on one site. It's not like blogging about mortgage or gambling on a hobby site.

@ Lammert

Yeah, I guess they are related enough. I guess I was wary because I wanted to focus more on budget weddings type content than the beauty end of it, which is why I was unsure about it being related.

LMAO, I am in the process now, and spending endless money, which is what gave me the idea to begin with. Weddings cost big bucks!
