it is clear that george is getting a little more strict with duplicate content......however when you have added an area on a site that consists of factual information that is all over the web....will this still be considered duplicate content? it is freshly written content but still contains a certain percentage of duplication as it is fact based?

It would depend on the amount of content that is duplicated. Re-stating a fact in an original article shouldn't result in duplicate content issues.

thanks bill.....it is basically a list of facts about certain things or objects..lets say for argument sake planets.
listing facts about each planet..there is only so much you can do to change the content without compromising the facts?

Duplicate content is measured at the page level, not at the "sentence" level.

So you do have to worry if your "planets" page -in its entirety-- is a copy of or very closely resembles other pages on the Web. Otherwise, you should be OK as long as your page isn't accessible at more than one URL. For example, make sure that only one of either example.com/your-planets-page.html or www.example.com/your-planets-page.html directly returns content -- Requesting the other variant should result in a 301 redirect to the one you want to use.

To the extent possible, it is a good thing to add useful original content to differentiate your page from any other pages on the Web, and this is especially important if your "Facts about the planets" page is directly competing with the likes of Wikipedia.

I am thinking duplicate content is measured word for word or duplicate multiple sentenses.
