Multiple image-upload techniques?

After something that will let users of my site easily upload many images at once, like the java app that Facebook uses (but hopefully cheaper, that runs at $150+ depending on the options you pick). [snip] looks like basically the same thing, but is still $99. Anyone know of a cheaper option?

FTP is a consideration, but I don't think it's right for this application unfortunately.

check "[snip] web form builder". (oops, no URLs allowed)

It builds cute flash-based forms with one of actions being upload of users' files onto the server. Technically it's what you've described but check the details if it supports what you really need.
