Children as Target Audience?

How good do you think children as the target audience of your site would work? I am looking for building a site for 10-15 year olds, but I am unsure how net-savvy they are (is it only computer games and facebooking that they do?), if there are enough Google ads that target this age group, and also if the kind of advertisers who will be willing to target children digitally.

If you have a site for children, how has it worked?

Take care to research both laws and best practice in your jurisdiction regarding sites with an under-age audience.

Over the years I have seen lots of complaints about inappropriate ads being served on sites with target audiences such as children and churches. You will need to watch the ads carefully. (For example site about youth clubs in Freedonia could easily get ads for lap dancing clubs in Freedonia)
