Hey, my forum is about general topic, I wonder how to market it? I have tried to advertise in some other forums, yes I got visitors, yes I got new members, but they don't post. I also have several paid posters to make the forum look active, but still most of these natural visitors don't come back. How to make my forum have a lot of loyal members?

Welcome

To start with is you site fully SEO'd - if not, a lot of hard work in promotion will be diminished.

Hey wokakaasli:)
From: frenzy77

Goto an engine and type in social media. That should help
you out:) Get on one of these and start talking. You may be surprised about what a following you might get:)

Hope that helps:)
Good luck:)

The bad news is that a lot of forums simply don't achieve a critical mass. You need to differentiate your forum from others in the same niche.

You need to be there on the forum 3 years + talking to yourself, welcoming new members, answering their questions authoritatively, sweating blood and tears... and then MAYBE it will take off.

Just letting you know what you're in for. I know it's not what you want to hear, but it's the truth for most forum admins if you truly want it to work.

SEO from the start is crucial.

Well, I have differentiate the forum layout and skin and even the concept from other forums but I still see most people do not come back, I also have posted under several fake names. Do you think it's a good idea to advertise in some big forums and also in adwords? I have started SEO but as always SEO always take longer effects.

Do not start with to many sections .. this will make it hard for you to talk to yourself.
Also, Make a section where you provide free stuff -related to your niche - to download.

Im on the same boat. I never knew Id enjoy talking to myself so much. ;)

Good luck!

Advice: dont beg your friends to post. Use that time and energy to post yourself using different Usernames.
