Hi there,

Kinda new to all this so go easy on me if this is a stupid question!

I know Google and the other search engines penalise duplicate content, but do they give you a slap if you duplicate site structure?

For example, if was to build all of my sites with almost the same structure, would I be in trouble?

Thanks,

Jake

Hi Jake,

They don't PENALISE dupliacte content, they simply only list it once (from the original/most authoritative source), and filter the rest from results.
Lots more about this in the Google Hot Topics FAQ [webmasterworld.com](always pinned in the Google Search News forum), and specifically some here:
[webmasterworld.com...]

Templates do not cause a problem- otherwise all the bloggers using the same blogging software would be stuffed. As would many off-the-self ecommerce sites, message boards and loads of other people
