AOL Hometown is closing its doors on the 31st. A few of you are probably still linking out to some of their millions of pages, and if you are it's definitely time to drop those links.

Bizarrely, they've permanently redirected every URL to [peopleconnectionblog.com...]

Bye bye several million pages and up to a million links. I'm thinking they could've planned this slightly better...

I think they planned this exactly as they meant to, which is to say with as little fuss as possible. People I know who use AOL didn't get any emails about it. Why would they make a big fuss about withdrawing one of their features, even if relatively few people were still using it?

There were actually 26 million pages indexed by Yahoo before they were pulled.
