as per title really...

I'm debating on whether adding a 'tell a friend' script is worthwhile.

Do they really work? Do people actually use them?

I dont use them to tell friends. if the site is worth sharing, I'll email them, or tell them over msn or tell them in person or something. Does everyone else do this?

I'd like to know other peoples views on this.

Ie got one on my site but i dont think it has ever been used and my site has been up 3 months now with some major visits. Im considering taking it down to be honest

I have them on a few sites and do monitor their use. I would say safely they average about one use a month per site. With the "EDIT - SEND LINK BY EMAIL" options on browsers, Tell A Friends are not as important as they once were. Of course, one advantage a Tell A Friend does have is, depending on the script, you can craft the message to something more inviting then "Look at this page I found..."
