we have had a few emails over the last few days from fashosts the biggest hosting firm in the UK to inform us that their computers have been hacked and you need to change your passwords, it turns out that not even the passwords were encrypted, yet another cock up from a firm that is becoming a joke in the UK hosting world

Yes, it's from them! They ask you to to go your control panel and change the passwords. The only link in the email is to their customer suuport so it seems real enough.

My question is, why you refer to them as a joke. My experience of them is competitive prices, impressive up time, fast page download times and good customer service. No, I'm not an employee of the company, yes they host several of my websites and yes I earn my own living from my websites. I have tried lots of other hosting companies, some with very impressive facilities but none have suited me better.

So, come on, why are they so bad?

we have 5 websites hosted with them, as i speak my message boards are running at a snails pace, trying to get into the control panel over the last few days to change the passwords as requested by them has been nothing but a joke, need i have to remind you about the carry on a few months back when they suffered a huge outage, i would move but these guys are rated number 1 so what does that say for the rest of the hosting firms in the UK?. plus what bugs the hell out of me is when i try to get on my message boards and it just hangs, i go to my email box and 100s of my forum members have emailed me to say that they to are unable to get on, so i ring the help line and all you get is a person at the other end saying that the site is working ok at their end, try doing a search on the register website about how one day they just happend to dump one hell of a lot of peoples emails, even as i type this they refuse to confirm it the hacker has managed to steal peoples credit card details etc
