The team and I have been working on a new design for our website for months, I haven’t thought of this until now. Would we be able to keep our existing position in Google for our top keywords after the new website is live? Currently we have 1,200 static pages and about 6,000 dynamic pages, we also have a lot old content as well as new content on the new site. At the moment we get #1 position for our top keywords.

Another question is what would be the best way to publish our website; all at once? Or by part? It would really be devastating if we loose our top position for our main keywords. Does any one have any opinion on how I can accomplish this without loosing top position?

Thank Alex.

I did this about three months ago for a client.
we have added a new look and images, lot of dynamism, many new dir (clean uri) and a new cart system

but we kept the main structure tree as it was as well page title, keywords etc..
new additions are just branching out

I think that key factor was to keep the existing structure.

Now before tweaking anything else we will let it settle down for another couple of months

BTW no position lost!
