Can anyone shed some light on the following:
a) Is integrating a blog into a website worth the trouble?
It would seem to help with building out content and possibly in gaining links and site freshness etc. But most of the blogging platforms I’ve tried all seem to have major drawbacks if you want to integrate the blog into your website and maintain your brand.
Any thoughts on the best way to do this?
b) If you were to integrate a blog into a website, would you use a subdomain such as: blog.website.com or a sub-folder such as www.website.com/blog/?
I look forward to your thoughts.
A blog is just another way to add information to a site. It's only worth it if you plan to add information in that format. Otherwise you could just as well achieve the same effect by regularly updating your content and adding new things on an ongoing basis.
If you want to add a blog section then the
www.example.com/blog/ format will probably work best for you. Subdomains are regarded as separate sites by many SEs, so you may get a better boost for your site by keeping the content under the main domain.
