Hi All,
Me and my wife are making a website about youth group.

<snip>

How do you structure, and what information do you put into, your "about us" page?

When you plan content for your site, try to put yourself in the mind of the visitor.

Chances are (tho there are exceptions) that finding out about you and your wife is not high on their list.

Don't take it personally, but create a separate page "About the site", say, where those who want the background can find out more.

The site itself should be focussed on the needs and interests of your potential audience.

So before writing a single word, be thinking about who your hoped-for visitors are, and how you can meet their needs - while achieving your aims.

You do have aims, I trust? ;)

Good Luck,

I couldn't agree more.

What I look for in an about us page (and I do tend to read them when I see them) is information about what you do and what's available at your site and when. Information about people behind the site can be quite interesting to read, but should be at the bottom. That's more biographical.

What I really want to know first is your mantra, and two or three sentences summarising what you're all about.
