I received a terrible notice today. A competitor stolen my site, and created an exact duplicate, he just changed some colors and some data. The rest is exactly my site.

Im worried about several aspects:

What should I do now?
Will that affect my rankings? (I still rank ok)
Is it possible to make him stop?

    I saw this:

Note: All original material posted on the web is protected by copyright. If you take the additional step of registering that copyright you may be afforded additional awards if your copyright is infringed.

Does that means that even if I don't take that aditional step of registering that copyright, I have legal assistance?

Does that apply for a .com.ar domain (Argentina?

K do this as I have just gone through this same thing and had the offinding site taken down in less than 30 minutes

get the hosting company they use

go to to the hosting companies website and find the legal page they have up as code of conduct etc.

Go to tech support send an email to them include all the info you can include they are breaking this conduct include the url from the hosting companies legal page.

    URL of offending sie
    URL of your site

A good hosting company will have the site down in a few minutes send any proof you have of your site being established first a link to archives will do

[archive.org...] with your site and their site archives if they have any

if you prove your site content was copied they will have the site down in a few minutes.

Be polite to the hosting co do make and statemants against them. Let them send a response to you viva email it has been recieved wait a couple hours then call if need be refer to the email number or ticket number be polite and you will get the garbage taken down..

Thanks. I wonder what happen next. Since all perpetrator has to do is buying a new cheap hosting and upload the garbage again.

Should I complement that with and advise to perpetrator?

Best thing to do is leave them alone as they might just make it a project of thiers to hassel you

You could do some research on them if you can get the correct name and all.

I was lucky they used the real info on their register so I have all the contact info. see if you get the real info on them. If they are out of the country leave it be otherwise kkep a close eye

Get a google aleart set up for your website name

Post what action was taken and how soon ok I am wanting to see your results as well..Once an action is taken check back just to make sure they are abiding by it.. Some get the site back up and quickly redo the junk...

    [google.com...]
sign in and add your domain mydomain.com and without the .com

anytime the domain is picked up or name you will recieve an alert from the referring url thus you can see if you are being copied.

If they remove all traces of the name u will not but it helps to see were the site is being picked up new such as links news reports, pr's etc.

I personally don't like waybackmachine but seems to be helpfull in this case, however right now there is a 6-12 month lag between the date a site is crawled and the date it appears there so I can't wait that long.
Is there other similar alternatives to proof what content was in my site time ago, before the clon showed up?
