Change the content - does it hurt?

I am thinking of changing the content on my site.

Hi,

I have site, and for example my main keyword phrase is:" blue widgets"
Those words are in my title tag, meta discription and many times in my content.I have many text links with them as well. Now I think to remove "blue" from everywhere and to keep only "widgets".Is that goona hurt my ranking, and do you think that I can rank well on"widgets"?

Removing a key word will absolutely certainly affect your ranking on that term, and on phrases including that term.

There's no way to predict how serious the damage will be, even if we knew your niche, your site and key word.

Removing content is usually an unwise move, unless there is a problem with it. Much better to leave well alone, and concentrate on adding new content to meeet other terms.

remember that SEs rank your site one page at a time; as you can always add pages, there's rarely a need to remove successful ones.

Makes me think about this too. When I check google webmaster, they show Price as a major keyword. I'm seriously thinking about making that an image instead.
