A number of hosting companies have said they do not host email discussion lists. Are there hosting companies that do or do you have to run the server yourself? If you have a specific example, please sticky mail me because i don't believe you are allowed to post them. Ideally I am looking for a host that would not only allow it but help me set it up.

You're right. Specific hosting recommendations aren't allowed in this forum.
Have you looked at using publicly available systems like Google Groups or Yahoo Groups for your list? They have a good infrastructure in place.

Thanks Bill, I did but this would be an offshoot of a current listserv list and so because they are used to that, very few will move to a yahoo or google discussion list. Silly but people are often set in their ways. The original list is hosted by a university but because of the commercial aspect of the new list, hosting there wouldnt be ok. I will keep poking around.
