I am considering having our website translated into other languages and marketing it to other countries.

What's the best way to go about this with regards to SEO? Should I obtain new country specific TLDs of my domain, utilize subdomains, or stick with subfolders?

Thanks for your comments.

A local domain is my preferred method if you're going after a local market. Depending on the market you may want to get local hosting as well.

I too think that might be the best solution, but I believe there are domain registration requirements such as residency for several countries so thats not currently a viable option.

I'm not sure what the next best option would be or if they would be equal ...

francais.mydomain.tld, deutsch.mydomain.tld, etc ...

or

mydomain.tld/Francais/ , mydomain.tld/Deutsch/ etc ...

Any experience with either SEO concept?

Thanks

Neither subdomains nor folders carry any SEO weight specifically concerning local marketing. If you can't find a way around the domain registration requirements then look at local hosting in the respective country at least.
