Is there a site search service that does not display related ads?

Yahoo and Google site search show ads. Are there some that do not?

I need a good site search service or offering to run on a few of my sites. I currently use Dansie Search Engine (running on my own server) for a retail site with about 750 pages, but it is incredibly slow (30 to 45 seconds to complete a search).

I have looked at the Yahoo and Google site searches that you can put on your site, but the results show PPC advertising from competitive products/offerings.

Are there any good site searches that do not show ads? I don't mind branding or credit for the engine providing it, but I will not use a service that may provide doorways to customers to leave through.

If not, do you have any suggestions for search scripts to buy and run myself?

MSN still has some. I think the reason it has less right now is simply because there are less people using MSN's ad network.

Oops, I misread the OP. Sorry. I knew that some engines give you freebie search links with ads but you have to pay to get ones without ads. But I was thinking of the area around the search box, not the results page.

If it is an internal site search only, and if your site is not too big, there is open source software that works quite well. Entropy search is sometimes used but it takes a little work to make it pretty!.

My favorite paid site search is RiSearch Pro it is a perl indexing script so maybe a option if you don't update your site often, although 700 pages isn't to much to index. It is extremely fast on my sites, way over 700 pages. Uses templates and even obeys robots.txt.
