phpbb is the MOST stupid bbs I have seen in my life. in all my sites i have had to remove it. the amount of spam it gets is phenomenol inspite of messages requiring moderating. can u beleive it in site the data transfer has been 10gb in 25 days of dec jsut becoz of this stupid thing.

infact the amount of porn sites and spam that has come to my bbs becoz of this bbs is simply unbelievable.

the controls r absolutely useless. no amount of moderation helps.

can someone suggest a absolutely rocking BBS with the following things

1. with RSS if possible
2. Something in which moderation is easy
3. NO SPAM is allowed
4. Infact nothing is allowed to be posted unless approved

The perfect BBS? That would be BestBBS, but for what you're describing everything would have to be pre-moderated.

Naw. No RSS (beyond a single site-wide feed). No CSS - and author steadfastly resists it. No search. (Which I think is a clever ploy to get it's user community to use search-engine searchs, which probably improves the site's SE rank.)

But it's a good, basic, early 1990's-style no-frills BBS. No-frills probably increases it's reliability and decreases vulnerability.

It's best feature: no user icons.

I have phpbb setup on a few of my sites, and I agree that the spam is problem, but then if you use the most popular forum software, it's always going to be targeted more, like MS Windows for example.

Anyways, I followed the two modifications found in this thread and I now have no spam.

Good luck :)

Yep, simple MODs that can be found here or at PHPBB's website/forum will stop the BOT SPAM pretty cold in its tracks.
Human SPAM is another problem altogether, to stop that, a forum would have to be completely pre-moderated, such a forum would need a 24/7 staff to moderate or likely it would die it in time as most people tend to be quite impatient in this day and age.

just my 3cents
