IP addresses that are BOTS

Are they BOTS or HACKS or BOTH?

Hello,

Can anyone help on how to stop the everpresent Pings/hacks to my PC from a wide array of IP addresses that are getting around my many blocks?

Windows Firewall is nearly useless and I~ve installed a Third Party one that is pretty good at catching and stopping most attempts. Also have at least three other Auto-Protects including A/V and AntiSpy etc..

These days it`s 80-20.. 80 % Security... 20 % Surfing while on the web.

HELP.

My router has a built in firewall which blocks all pings etc and enables me to open and close ports.

hardware firewall solutions are best.

I'm also using Zone Alarm as a software firewall solution and this doesn't have to work so hard since i'm protected by the router.

Windows firewall I have switched off :)

I use a router with a built in firewall and NAT, or maybe a NAT firewall, I'm not sure of the terminology. In any case, it stops everything cold. Pings and the like never make it through to the PC's on this network.
