How Often Do You Update Your Site(s)?

I guess this is a question for those who make a living running a website. Do you guys run a huge site that you update on a regular basis but not nonstop or do you run a blog or site that you update constantly ( like a Drudge or blog page)? I have a few site ideas but I was wondering which one generates more income. Feel free to comment

I have a single site with 1,500 +/- mostly static pages. It also has about 60 time sensitive pages that get updated as needed, that could be anywhere from once a month to several times a week depending on the specific page and time of year.

It beats flipping burgers full time at a fast food joint.

Ken, so you have Adsense on all those 1500 static pages? What if you switch to another ad company, do you have to update everypage one by one with the new ad code?

Yes, I have Adsense on almost all 1,500 +/- pages. And I do it all manually, but those pages don't change very often, mostly they are pretty evergreen. They change when I add a new page and have to changed a couple links on the old pages next to it.

Any big changes that are the same on every changed page I just do with a global search and replace function.

It's a much bigger job keeping the 60 or so time sensitive pages updated.

I'm thinking of taking this part of the site down. I just don't need or want to be tied down to a schedule if I don't have to.

I have three sites, two of them get updated weekly (2 to 6 new pages added) and the other one could get several times a week to once a month depending on new information. AdSense and/or affiliate links are on every page. AdSense and all other ad blocks are done in server side include files, so they can be changed at any time on all pages, as long as the ads replacing them are the same size.

Hi Ken,

With you having a website with 1500+ pages, how do you get your visitors to visit these pages. What is the average # of pages each vistor click on per. What do you find to talk about on 1500 pages? Is it actually a book or a commerce site? Sorry for so many questions.

Just curious!
