I'm looking for a good host - and I don't want people to make recommendations here - but does anybody know which web host review site is actually impartial and/or features reviews which are legitamite.
I feel like most of the sites i review are run by the hosting companies themselves. Maybe I'm paranoid but thats what it seems like.

That's not paranoia, the vast majority of web host review sites really are just fronts for the hosting companies.
The field is really just too competitive to get a balanced view from public forums. A better tactic is to speak to other web developers that you know and trust and test the water with a smaller site first. Try out the live chat and speak to the support people, do they answer quickly and seem to know what they are talking about? Email the sales department with some questions.
