Hi,

I'm a web developer also interested in web business, I'm about to start blogging in depth about mysql and web 2.0.

Question to seasoned bloggers: is blogging worth it? Does blog help getting

- new contacts, virtual or real ones?
- new job offers or business opportunities?
- interesting comments or new ideas? how is blog better than participating in a forum or a mailing list?
- 99 out of 100 people will just think "thanks for sharing knowledge, now I'm smarter and will ask my boss a higher pay" - isn't it so?
- do successful enterpreneurs blog for something other than advertising their venture? Why should other people blog?
- I'm lost somewhere in Eastern Europe - should I blog in English or in my local language instead? Or maybe in French?

Sorry for my English.

I'm new here -- should I post to another forum instead, or I'm just too impatient?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld Yana..Bienvenue :)
not too impatient ..just most of the pro bloggers here are probably in the USA and they aren't online yet or are out for the day ..weekends are quieter here ..

you'll get some response ..

if admins think the post is in the wrong place they'll move it ..

As for languages ..blog and build in all of your 3 ( or more? ) there's no danger of any search engine being smart enough to get you for dupe content for at least another 10 years ..despite what MS say on their new "beta" ..
