Greetings,
As a company, we have one main page that is the meat and potato's of our business. Unfortunatly, over the years there have been many other smaller sites that feed the main site and help with SEO. We have been actively working on increasing the quality of our main page and creating a good user experience, but we would like to go even farther and remove the rats nest that has been created by those other sites. We have thought of just placing a splash screen or redirecting users to our main page from those other domains until they die out. What is the industry standard for this procedure.. if there is one?

Take a good look at which pages are really generating your traffic ... well profitable traffic. I would suggest that these be left intact as to not disrupt your traffic flow ..... redirect unimportant (less important) pages to those within the same domains and link those pages to the main site .... eventually migrate everything .... but slowly so you don't loose your serps.
