I have a premier account with them and thinking of putting up a donation link on my site.
Question: once donation payment is made will my name be shared with those who leave a donation for me, such as "you’ve donted/paid X amount to [name]"?
I wish there was an option to have my website name instead, a name is too personal as if I’m begging for the donation personally.
Can someone whose is familiar in this area confirm whether paypal issues the payee’s name to the payer? Or just simply says “thanks for payment” or something similar along that line without disclosing the account holder’s name.
"Thank you for your payment to Member02@mysite.com"
I had a similar complaint in reference to items being purchased on my site. At the beginning of the process to buy an item, the default PayPal statement says: "Pay me with PayPal!".
Since I run a business, I didn't want my customers thinking it was just "me", and not a full business.
I sent a note to PayPal and they said they cannot (or will not) change the statement on their template.
vite_rts: I am not complaining about anything I am just asking whether the name shows or not.
Celgins: I was referring to after someone made the payment, if you go into you paypal account>Merchant Tools>Donations>Add More options>PREVIEW, I noticed in the preview page it says “You’ve made a payment” and at the bottom you will notice it says “Contact Information” followed by the name and email address.
Is “you’ve made the payment” what the donators see, if yes does that contact information show?
Thanks
Just add a company name if you want it more official sounding. Even then, it begs the question, "who is in charge of this?" A name will still have to be provided. It doesn't cheapen the experience in any way.
I don't think there's an online payment out there that doesn't reveal real contact info if someone looks hard enough. After all, if someone's cracking open their wallet, the least you owe them is letting them know who it's going to. :-)
