still awaiting response from their support.
i'm using cuteftp, which gives the following options for logging in:
Host
Username
Password
obviosuly, ftp.mysite.com will not work because it is still pointed at the active site at my previous host
Did you set up an FTP account or are you just using your account login/password? They may not be set up for FTP, which would require you to log into whatever kind of control panel is provided by your host and set one up an account manually.
would you happen to know the answer to this question:
when i type my ip in my browser to see the yet-to-be-live site, i am redirected back to my .com domain
i disabled the htaccess and changed all configuration settings and checked the base href's (which is just http_server)
why won't it let me view the plain old ip domain? when the site was empty (with the host default pages) i could see their stuff fine.
If it doesn't work, then GoDaddy does not have it set up yet. Or you need to go into their control panel and set it up. How or who entered the DNS changes? The FTP account should have been set up at that time.

Of course, the second you clicked on any intrasite links, assuming they have absolute paths (h++p://www.mydomain.com/path-here), you would be sent to your old host as long as your domain name resolves there.
