When I was building website I did not know a thing beyond the fact that it will make me money someday. But now that I have started to get a hang of it and have my own thoughts in place I want to change the theme of my site. My existing site is doing too poorly so anything will be an imporvement. Atleast I will start enjoying what I am doing plus incidentally its a better pauing keyword! I am sure I will be able to do well in that theme than the one I am presently involved in.

My hitch is that my domain name has keywords which may have nothing to do with the theme I have in mind. In this case will it affect my SE postion in anyway?

Shall I change the names of other pages according to new keyword and do away with the old names completely? The site is an year old So I don't want to give it up entirely to
start a new one. Pls advise.

I know what you mean, have been in a similar situation - to me, I'd say start a new website. I don't think it's worth spending time and effort on re-modelling it with the old domain, which SE would not appreciate anyways. I would (in fact: I will) go on and start again with a different domain.

By the way: It will stay like this; you learn with every project and you will always feel that there are TONS of mistakes you did that you wouldn't do ever again NEXT time ;)

Good luck! W.

It sounds more like you are wanting to change the subject of your site, rather than the theme (its appearance, its layout, etc.)

But changing the names of pages will surely remove their positioning in the SERPS.

I would probably just start an entirely new website.
