Youtube really have made some changes lately in terms of what they recommend I watch. Channels I subscribe to very seldom appear in my recommended videos section, they are a little hidden, to be honest, and I need to view by subscription sections to see who has a new upload. I also run a small scale channel 20 (ish) subscribers, yet I am seeing channels with 10k+ subscribers (within my niche) getting fewer views than me.

It makes you wonder if the power of a large subscriber base has now been superseded by another aspect of the algo. I am seeing that a lot of my traffic is coming from recommended videos. I think my watch duration is very high, so this may be a fairly powerful piece data for Youtube to use.
