Video on Youtube, links on forums: check, inks in my site

Now what?

I finally finished my first video for my site. My intention is to use video if possible as another way to drive traffic to my site, by having my site's URL in the annotations on Youtube, by offering the video to other sites provided they include my link, and by trying to get Google to rank the video for some search phrases.

The video is a way to bring visitors to the site (I hope), and not an end in itself. So, that said, what else should I be doing to make this an effective traffic tool?

I would include a complete transcript of the video somewhere on your site. Theoretically your video will be rich in keywords, the transcript should help you get in to Google's search.

Use Media RSS and Google Video Sitemaps to push your version of the video. That should rank it in Google Video. You could include the transcript on that same page or linked from it.

That's assuming you will have it on your own site. Not sure about the content duplication ramifications of having the same video all over the place.

PS. I think you can put time-coded transcripts in Media RSS, which being XML would probably allow you to do cool things like closed captions via Flash in the video player... all from the same indexed source... foreign language translated subtitles...? :)
