The video will always have a slight delay when first playing while it downloads the first part of the file.

I checked on the clients site and on other videos in youtube and they all had that initial loading time at the beginning.

Thanks so much Justa - if you or anyone knows of a service that can actually measure speed of videos, I'd love to be able to provide the client with quantitative results to show his videos are up to par.

I don't see how any service could actually measure "speed of videos" as there are so many factors that can affect downloading including:

- bandwidth
- speed of pc viewing the video
- compression used in making the video

Any service that would be measuring speed would only be good to measure videos against each other on the same service.

I had a quick look at the firebug plugin called YSlow which is a handy tool, but that gives you the speed of the page load and it's elements, not necessarily the speed the video is coming through.

I suggest you take some high quality you tube promotion vides from the home page and embed it into the page in a similar way you have already done.

The client will then be able to see the load times are the same for a high level you tube production as it is for his video.

You could also upload it to some of the other video hosting sites and show the difference in the pages, you never know you might find something that works a little quicker.

You could use something like NetStat Live from Analog-X which will show your realtime bandwidth usage on your computer. It's old but it still works great.
