Server-side conversion to FLV format

I have a Linux server with Apache and I need to upload and convert AVI, MPG and MP4 videos to FLV, but I don't know where to start searching for this... any help or ideas will be really appreciated, thanks.

ffmpeg I believe is the place to start, I've been doing video for many years myself but haven't gotten into the server side aspect so I can't offer any further assistance.
