Recently, People Also Ask what's a reasonable alternative to Twitter and apparently an old Jack Dorsey project is starting a waiting list (or invites) at his Twitter-like project Bluesky.

Bluesky is part of a project, initiated by Dorsey when he was still Twitter’s CEO, to build a “decentralized” social media system, in which no single person or company controls the experience. While Twitter has invested in Bluesky, it is now a separate company with its own CEO.

I've been on the request list for some time, but so far I've not got the go ahead. It's unfortunate that Musk seems to played with twitter, and it's upset many users. It's opened the door for others to step through.

There was a second, related article where Dorsey is saying that

Musk has not proved to be the platform’s ideal steward — and should have walked away from buying the site.

Of course, there might be as many differing opinions as there are users of the platform.
