It appears that Twitter has limited access for third-party clients, such as Tweetbot and Twitterific, and others, and it was a deliberate and unexplained move by the company.

Internal messages on Twitter indicated that shutting down certain third-party clients was a company decision rather than a bug, The Information reported over the weekend. The report said that one project manager told the product team that the company had “started to work on comms,” but didn’t provide any timeline for official and approved communication.

Whenever there is a major changeover there are likely to be major changes. Realigning what is company with what is third party kind of makes sense.

Waiting to see what happens.

Companies and webmasters are complaining loudest so far. Regular users that actually engage on Twitter seem to be happy about it. No official message from Twitter, yet.

The official app is still up and running. I wonder if the employees still talking to the media will be looking for work next week.
