Elon Musk says that suspended accounts will be restored if they have not broken the law or spammed. It's an amnesty, and I don';t doubt he'll be watching how that move goes.

Imagine that, people who have not broken the law, or the rules, we're previously banished. While restoring such accounts probably rights a wrong, it doesn't fix the problem.

How so? Well, now you have other people rage quiting Twitter because people they don't like are allowed to Tweet. I'm sure it's politicaly convenient for everyone to be such energetic social justice warriors but the reality is people are still strongly divided, regardless of what Musk does.

He's just the owner of a 40 billion social platform, he's not going to create people's thoughts for them. Nobody should.

As the owner of a 40B company, he's also interested in returning previous members sidelined or shadow-banned for reasons other than breaking the law or the rules.

Works both ways.

A poll of 3M twits voted 73% to allow amnesty and restore diversity to the platform.

Have to wait and see how it all works out.

>> 3M twits

If you believe those 3M were all human Twitter users, with no bots in the mix, you're a much less cynical soul than I am.

Heh, the bots would have voted the other way. :)

Heh, losing an argument? Blame the bots. Winning an argument? What bots... :)

Twitter is not news.

Me: *looks at calendar*, still 2022
My brain: *It's too early for this, what is going on*
The morning news: "ELON IS THREATENING FREE SPEECH (apparently by allowing it)"

I think all the sensible people are moving to Mastodon, aren't they? Having MORE options is a good thing apparently.

I was curious to see if I'd feel like getting a twitter account as people stopped being silenced in the middle of the night but nope, 95% of people are cool and the other 5% like to kick things(occasionaly, often on command, in one direction or the other) and laugh(very inclusive behavior really).

I don't feel like getting a Mastodon account either though. hmmm or Facebook or... are there still people on myspace?

Unless you NEED to schmooze for professional or promotion related reasons, does anyone just join social media because it's cool still?

I wrote that post this morning tongue in cheek. I KNEW today was different by the inteligence offending nature of some early mainstream "opinion" articles.

As the end of the day approaches, apparently Twitter bots are flooding accounts of anyone who is likely to see the anti-CCP news of what's happening in Shanghai today. Many are reporting seeing lewd stuff from bots when they try.

Also - The Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii is erupting for the first time in 40 years.

- this subject of this article in a play is questionable, being referred to as brilliant even more so - [washingtonpost.com...]

The new Disney "The Santa Clauses" series has a lot of kids holding up "We love you Satan" signs, more than once.

Apple is deciding to block Twitter from the App store because Elon is allowing actual free speech - Elon promises to make a new phone if they do. (he would, too)

With all of the Black Friday earnings made it seems we're being returned to our regular programming of late.

As a consumer I'm more inclined to get the last laugh and not buy anything from any of them again, including reading news from elite owned sources.

There's so much more from today ALONE. It's like the volume was turned up to 9 in terms of taking everything to it's limits. I don't want to hear 10.
