Doing "dumb things" because you don't know what you're doing is not innovation, it's simply being dumb. ;)

Right now the department in charge of keeping the site from failing is running on a skeleton crew, as is the case throughout Twitter.

So if it seems like "dumb things" are happening, the lack of hands and minds is a contributing factor because the people who know how to run the machine are no longer at the wheel.

So far, my favorite dumb thing was dumping half the staff without first finding out exactly what they did, leading to frantic pleas for some of them to return. I really hope the universal reply was “Oh, hell no” or, if you prefer, “Thanks, but I’m good”.

I said it previously, he's running the show as if it were a small business.

i don't think people should overanalyse his exact words, he is being provocative, obviously deliberately, and in the uk at least, twitter is in the news a lot, even this forum has been more active since the take over and build up to it ... so maybe that is the point as much as anything else.

i think all social is going to have a legistlive shake up at some point ... i personally like the J Peterson idea that there should be 2 types of comments/posts, those by verified/real people and all others and that you (as a user) should be able to turn off seeing the unverified comments/posts. i realise that verifying reality is a can of worms.

somewhat OT, I think twitter is dead in the water unless it becomes much more video-centric ... and that if it becomes the defact source of short form video for sport, politics, news, business and niche groups then it will have another day (and perhaps many, many days) in the sun, so to speak.

as i don't work in the industry like most here, as in, i just develop sites for my own retail business, so i don't feel the pain of workers being laid off like others do. however i do know the 80/20 theory which is that 20% of people do nearly all the work in big corporations.

i also observe that the illuminati of this community don't really like musk at all!

That is one of the last things Twitter rolled out prior to Musk taking over.

But that's all likely not going to progress since Twitter is on a skeleton crew now.

It's more than just features, which is what most posts and articles focused on.

The salient point that was missed is that Twitter's focus had turned to becoming the best place for sharing media, not just videos, but all forms of media.

That is the important point that was missed elsewhere. ;)
