Bloomberg's opinion columnist, Matt Levine, suggests that Musk could have been pretending to buy twitter, and it indicates it was all a plaything for the billionaire.

If this is the case, at some point, if not now, everyone will be extremely cautious of an approach by Musk, and he may have shot himself in the foot. Not only have twitter shares fallen, but so have Tesla shares.
