On a lighter note, the perpetrators have elsewhere been described as the most dimwitted hackers in history, akin to staging a masterfully executed break-in of Fort Knox and waltzing out with $500.

Twitter talks more about the 36 accounts hacked, and says hackers viewed DMs on those accounts.

More may come to light as the investigation continues.
