Twitter makes Promoted Trend Spotlight ads generally available in United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan, and expanding the product to 12 additional markets: Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, and Thailand.

Promoted Trend Spotlight ads support 6-second video, a banner with a gif, and static images. The ad appears at the top of the Explore tab, but for the first two visits each person, each day. Once the initial visits are reached, the ad placement moves to the Promoted Trend position, with organic editorial content reappearing in the Spotlight placement.

Thank goodness for Adblock Plus, uBlock Origin, Firefox Enhanced Tracking protection, and Good Twitter for Firefox -- I don't ever see Twitter ads, and I don't have to ever look at that failed new mobile design for desktop that they rolled out recently.

I don't mind ads if they are relevant as I know the site needs to make money to survive.
