Twitter Adds Advanced Filter Settings With Better Mute Controls

Twitter has expanded the advanced filter settings to give users better control over mute settings. You can now Mute accounts that don't follow you, new accounts are easily muted, and people you don't follow.
Silencing voices does not mean they don't exist, this is the wrong approach. I have both left leaning and right leaning friends and have already noticed the left leaning friends wish to silence anyone not agreeing with them while the right leaning friends don't bother muting anyone at all. It speaks to our times, will Twitter keep and share statistics about muting statistics?

I think similar features exist on other platforms...I know on Facebook, you're able to remove people from your feed, so I don't think such a feature is without precedent...I agree, I think it would be interesting to see how muting and the similar feature on Facebook are being utilized...
I checked out the exact list of what you can mute Accounts that are new (that you don’t follow). Accounts that don’t follow you (that you don’t follow). Accounts you don’t follow. Accounts with a default profile photo (that you don’t follow). Accounts without a confirmed email address (that you don’t follow). Accounts without a confirmed phone number (that you don’t follow).
"Accounts with a default profile photo (that you don’t follow). " suggests that part of the idea is to control the rampant spam thats in there cluttering up users feeds...
