Do you connect Facebook page to Twitter?

Why you do or why not?

I recently connected a product related Facebook page to it's Twitter sister page, so when I post something on FB page, it automatically, shows on Twitter side.
Now it looks a bit dumb to me that I basically don't need to go to Twitter as duplicated stuff shows from FB. I also see things from FB get cut because of Twitter's limits.

Things I post about are totally product oriented, including discounts, coupons, etc., as well as participating in discussions when they arise.

I wonder what do you do, how, and why?

I have found the automated approach to be very limiting, not least for the reasons you outlined.

Is anyone really reading it, or is it just like any other spam.

One way to make it more interesting is to make it unique to FB, or unique to twitter.

A specific twitter program might be the answer, and a different one for FB. By splitting it, you'll be able to measure which program is generating the best roi.

Do not and strongly counsel against it. My primary reason is that it becomes too easy to forget or ignore/put off checking the property that's being fed and when people respond to you, you're not there to answer and engage them. They'll lose interest and you'll lose credibility.

SM is NOT a one way conversation - eg. pushing content without willingness to engage is a really bad idea. But you probably already know this. :)

I like using a social media management tool like HootSuite to update all my social accounts from one spot. You can update everything in one fell swoop but still customize the messaging based on the platform. I think it's okay if the updates are the same across the board from time to time but if there is zero difference it starts to read a little spammy. My thought is you can post to Twitter with a lot more frequency than you can to Facebook without it looking like "too much" so why not take advantage of that?
