I've got a few "promoted" twitter accounts, but I'm deathly afraid of tweeting from them and attract a bunch of "crap" followers, or just tweeting the wrong things. I know I can set a budget and learn a little day by day, but I'm wondering the experiences other webmasters have been having promoting their tweets.

I feel like it's 2003 and I'm learning AdWords again, honestly:)

Did you set a budget for testing water purpose?

Tweet your most relevant Keywords
You could use Geo-Location
Come with a tangible offer
Don’t forget to include an URL pointing to your promo definition.
Do your own Keywords return stat
As always be courteous and thanks users that have looked at your promo and answered favorably to it.

Note on Keywords stats:(statistics)
While testing Keywords keep a log:
Define type of interest/curiosity triggered by a specific set of Keywords.

Then weight new followers quality/number of new followers.

Remember that you don't have to systematically follow back.
