Halfway through 2011, users on Twitter are now sending 200 million Tweets per day. For context on the speed of Twitter’s growth, in January of 2009, users sent two million Tweets a day, and one year ago they posted 65 million a day.

How many of those 1 billion tweets every 5 days are auto-posted to twitter accounts set up to send out blog post updates? How many of the people getting the tweets in their timeline have 2000+ freshly acquired followers from some follow back service?
There is a high percentage of spam on Twitter and it's increasing too, twitter had best take care of that before it's too late.

Yes, there is a lot of spam but you don't see it if you don't look outside your stream.
I block anyone that jumps on my stream and post something stupid, only happens a couple of times a week, far less than the email spam I deal with daily
