How hard would it be to ensure that a user enters a birth year when they create an account?

They do ask for date of birth.

The UK (and a number of other countries) are pushing for identity verification - so no more anonymous accounts.

Thereby weeding out the under-13s who don’t have the rudimentary common sense to lie about their age, or the basic arithmetic skills to make up a suitable date?

I think the challenge here is that the company has T&Cs that state users must be over 13, yet they don't check it.

In my limited experience of testing TikTok, i'd be very concerned about that all-to-easy easy access to somewhat risqué content.

@engine not sure about current situation, but once the Online Safety Bill is passed everyone will have to verify the identify of all users.

I am waiting for a leak of which users watch what from #*$! sites - no doubt we can then compile lists of MPs, judges, CEOs, celebrities etc. by orientation, fetish etc.
