Sqeeze page -- Email or SMS?

Which is the ONE most relevant piece of user data?

E-commerce site here...

Want to try to get users to go through a squeeze page before they find a local sales rep.

currently we are talking about capturing only email. Trying to keep it simple.

However, I think email is about dead. Just thinking -- what if we used social media login to access content? Facebook OR Google login? Then we can begin building our new customer database with social media.

OR we could just capture SMS... We have a lot of traffic worldwide, not just USA based.

Just thinking, WHAT IF we captured SMS instead of email...

Email can still work well. Just be sure to have an email validation process in place to make it harder for them to give you "burners". SMS would work, but I think people are more likely to give up an email address than a mobile number. The constant battle against nuisance calls is real and I think people are waking up to the risks associated with giving your number online. Even if you personally aren't the issue, many have already been bitten by this.

Social media is an interesting idea, but it doesn't give you a concrete contact method.

This is probably a perfect case for AB testing.. maybe even C. I think it may come down to who your target demographic is.
