Percentage of traffic from SEs vs Referring Sites

I have a two month old site. With all my efforts I am now able to get nearly 80 visitors a day with nearly 80% of traffic from referring sites. However search engine traffic is as low as 7%.

Is this normal for a new site like mine? Can anyone help me on how much I can expect from SEs might be in another couple of months?

That is very normal. At 2 months old I doubt you are ranking for many of your competitive keyword phrases yet. Over time you will see that number balance out with referring sites it just might take some time.

That is normal but you could do a lot better. It is important to get get some links at the beginning. Start off by finding some good directories in your area. Try searching for a keyword you are targeting plus the word directory. There is nothing wrong with submitting to several hundred directories. After that start working on getting other non directory sites to link to you. Go visit our Link Development forum [webmasterworld.com] and check out the conversations and read the library.

There is no reason you can't start to rank for some long tail terms in a month of putting up a new site.
