Type-in traffic estimates based on search data

Is there a standard way to estimate type-in traffic using search data?

If I was using a keyword selector tool to get the number of times "mydomain.com" was searched last month, how would I calculate the estimated type-in traffic numbers for that domain?

Is there an industry standard rate?

Has anyone measured this for their own sites/domains?

using a tool like overture suggestion tool.. a rough estimate is to multiply the overture number (with extension..ie mydomain.com not mydomain ) by 3

Thanks dauction. I'll do my estimates using that formula.

Has anyone come across any accurate evidence to justify this formula?

The only way to really know is to view the results of the domain when its parked,
