The links I have on my page are 100% dating related (e.g. Dating Tips, Singles Clubs etc.), and are from sites which boast high traffic. However, as I say, I am only seeing a trickle of traffic from these sites.
What can I do to improve this? I need HUNDREDS of visitors every day to build my membership up.

[edit reason] minor edit to "free dating" [/edit]
I bought the dating script off a seller on the Internet for £100. Unfortunately, so far, despite now having near 600 members, I have not managed to recoup a single penny off that money.
It is a terrible problem trying to build up a database of thousands of members. Cannot afford advertising, so just relying on reciprocal links, newsgroup postings etc. Have even tried submission software, but all I have got is spam and scant new traffic.
I DID actually exchange reciprocal links with ALL of these dating webmasters. In fact, the total links on my page now amount to nearly 100! I have linked with not only dating sites, but also romance tips sites, speed dating sites etc.
I cannot understand why I am still only getting a trickle of 15-20 new visitors per day.
Should I try other means of promotion (e.g.small, affordable text ads in my local paper?).
I really want to make this site of mine, Free UK Dating, a big success, but as you can see, it is very difficult attracting the kind of traffic necessary to its growth.
You say you bought a script, hopefully you have your own content. Try getting links from people that will link to you naturally (very hard though) or you will need to figure our a way to get (paid or?).
There are many ways out there to get good quality links from pages that are indexed. Also try getting links from sites homepage, that should help as well, a lot of link exchange links are on Link partner pages.
BTW Google says don't even bother about link exchanges. They are dying for SEO.
