hi...i've just added around 20 more pages to my site, which is already indexed by many search engines. so should i resubmit my url to search engines to get new pages indexed, or just wait for them to crawl on their own?. and in about wat time, shud i expect my new pages to show up in se indexes?

Wait for the engines to crawl. The engines find your site via inbound links to your home page or to other pages on the site.

If your site isn't well-linked enough for the engines to crawl it, the pages won't rank anyway, so there's no point in submitting. Get good inbound links to your site and to your new pages. That will speed things up and help them rank.

I've been observing that if a site is well-linked, nothing spectacular but has a a few dozen links coming into it, the Google generally updates in about a week, MSN anywhere from a day to a week longer, and Yahoo a not-too-distant third, doing much, much better than it used to do. Yahoo may be slower, though, about indexing deep pages. A lot depends on when in the crawl cycle you put your pages up, as well as the number and PageRank of the linking pages (and the number of links they contain), so it's hard to generalize.
